From Dream to Reality
The spark: a classroom
My name is Landry Djomo Lowe. I grew up in an environment where education holds an essential place in everyone's life. During my secondary school years, I quickly noticed a recurring problem: errors in our report cards, entirely manual management, and teachers who sometimes struggled to track their exam corrections.
This observation left a deep impression on me. I knew there had to be a better way.
Discovering programming
In my penultimate year of science studies, my computer science teacher introduced us to the C programming language. It was my very first encounter with programming — the ability to translate an algorithm into a working program. I was fascinated. I wanted to understand how software and video games were created.
At the time, I didn't have a computer. I coded on my phone and shared my learning on YouTube. It was modest, but the passion was immense.
First projects
When I discovered HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, I could see my first creations come to life in a web browser. I immediately had an idea: create a website to connect tutors with students who needed help.
That first project, hosted for free on GitHub Pages, taught me a great deal — even though it didn't turn out as planned. But every setback brought me closer to my true vision.
The birth of GES-SCO
While pursuing my training in application development, I discovered tools like PHP and the Laravel framework through online educational content creators. I started by developing a first school management system called REGIST, then an improved version named Ges-école.
But I was looking for a simple, memorable, universal name. That's how GES-SCO was born. As soon as I checked its availability, I immediately registered it. The name was perfect: short, clear, and meaningful — GEStion SCOlaire (School Management).
Today and tomorrow
Now based in Canada, I continue to develop and improve GES-SCO every day. What started as an observation in a classroom has become software used by educational institutions around the world.
The adventure is just beginning.
